What do you do when you’ve been up since 4:45 with only about 4 hours sleep and trying to stay awake during a conference call? Google. I love to randomly Google things just for fun. So, today I googled “Gourmet Vegetarian”. And I discovered the most incredibly wonderful thing. Gourmet Vegetarian Marshmallows called “Gourmallows“.
I have found other veg marshmallows in the past (as I believe I’ve mentioned), but these look like real homemade squares of heaven. Plus, they come in 3 flavors – Cinnamon, Vanilla, and Coconut. They have egg in them, so they’re not vegan, but according to their About Us section, they’re working on a vegan version. So, all you vegans out there, check back to their site in a few months.

At just $7.50 for a pack, I’m going to order a couple of them. But I better hurry up… I want some in my hot chocolate before spring gets here!
Nice…thanks for sharing your random googlings
I’ll have to try them as well & can’t wait for the vegan kind!
mmmmmmm they look yummy!

My order of vanilla, and cinnamon Gourmallows just arrived. These marshmallows are amazing; light, creamy, and perfectly spiced. And, they melt! I can finally have proper hot chocolate!
I haven’t tried Sweet & Sara’s vegan marshmallows (www.sweetandsara.com), so I can’t make a comparision, but if you are looking for a vegetarian marshmallow, this is it! Yum!
There is also a New Zealand company, Angel Food, making vegan marshmallows. They also offer a marshmallow making kit, which isn’t on their website yet. Email them for more info. You can find them at http://www.angelfood.co.nz
It makes me crazy to pay that much for marshmallows so I finally perfected a vegetarian recipe. It's a mash-up of a recipe from Clotilde at Chocolate & Zucchini and a recipe from Elizabeth Falkner's (of Citizen Cake) Demolition Desserts. Anyway, they are truly delicious albeit not perfectly shaped. If you're interested, check out my post which I have hidden under my February 14, 2008 post because frankly others are tired of my marshmallow rantings. http://www.rightthisminute.blogspot.com
